Dear Visionary Leader,

Our Lord specializes in showing us a successful way when “experts” say there is no way out, through or over the circumstances of life. Do you feel like you have come to a pivotal intersection with seemingly no answers before you?

Our Lord specializes in using ordinary people to accomplish ordinary outcomes. Rahab is highlighted in Hebrews 11:30-31. Even though much is not said about her in Hebrews 11, she played a strategic role in defeating Jericho centuries ago. As you may recall, she is the person who welcomed the spies secretly inside the city of Jericho. In her day, she was known as “Rahab the Harlot.” I am sure that most did not believe that she would achieve much in her life.

Yet, when a divine opportunity came Rahab’s way, she did not fail to recognize the fingertips of God in the situation. Instead, she responded in faith before the Lord. In one single day, she moved her spiritual life from the house of shame to the hall of fame. When the walls of Jericho came tumbling down, the Lord spared her life because she was obedient while her generation was disobedient.

What has the Lord asked of you? We are to be faithful the little in order to be faithful in much. It may only be a minute; but eternity is in it! Indeed, we can see this world saved through the Gospel. It is the Gospel that is “power unto salvation.” Let’s believe our beliefs and doubt our doubts!

Visionary Coaching

On several occasions, I have shared a personal story of moving from production to reproduction. During the Christmas holidays almost two years ago, I was praying for the Lord to make me productive the following year. The Lord whispered, “Do not ask Me to make you productive ever again; ask Me to make you reproductive and do not produce anything that is not worthy of reproduction.”

In his book, Good to Great, Jim Collins wrote about “Level 5 Leaders.” He said they:

 

  • embody a paradoxical mix of personal humility and professional will
  • display a compelling modesty, are self-effacing and understated attribute success to factors other than themselves
  • display a workmanlike diligence–more plow horse than show horse
